In Layla’s Last Walk, Anuj Shrestha pairs a personal essay with observational sketchbook drawings made during the final months of his dog Layla’s life. As her dementia progresses, he records the changes in her behavior, the daily routines of caregiving, and the difficult experience of preparing to say goodbye. An intimate reflection on companionship, grief, and the ways a beloved animal remains with us after they are gone.
